The area of Connaught that Ciarán
comes from as it might have looked like in 432 A.D.
The mountain had been used by pagans as a place of worship for years. According to legend, Patrick spent forty days at the top of the mountain, after which he came down and drove the snakes from Ireland. I chapel has been built at the summit, and on Reel Sunday at the end of July pilgrims continue pilgrimages up the mountain. It lies about half an hour south west of Beltra Lough.

Tara of the Kings - the Hill of Tara in County Meath, seat of the High Kings of Ireland
The Stone of Destiny, one of the four treasures of the Túatha dé Danann. It is said that the stone would shout with joy whenever a true king of Ireland was crowned.
Named after the druidess Tlachtga, who is said to be buried on the hill. Each year at Samhain, all the old fires across Ireland would be extinguished. Then after sundown, a new ceremonial fire would be lit on the hill. From there, torches would be lit that would be carried throughout Ireland to relight the fires throughout the rest of the land.
